Why College Students Should Consider 50cc Vehicles

Whether it's a moped, dirt bike, go kart etc. all college students should consider a 50cc vehicle to help them around campus. Why's this your ask? Below I will discuss a few good reasons why I feel college kids should consider one of these vehicles.

What most people don't know is that 50cc vehicles are most likely 49cc. What's this do for you? Well when it comes to riding a vehicle on the road, you must have your license for that particular vehicle. But there is one rule that over turns this. If the vehicle is under 50cc, then you can drive it on the roads without a license. When it comes to a college campus, this is perfect. No hassle trying to get your license, nothing extra to pay for, and no going out of your way to take driving courses etc.

Being able to drive these vehicles is half the battle. How about the fact that most of them get upwards of 100 miles to the gallon. That's right, I said it, 100 miles to the gallon. With a 1-2 gallon tank, your looking at 3-8 bucks to fill your tank, which will take you a long ways. Unlike a car, which has a 15 gallon tank, and gets about 15-30 miles to the gallon, there's really just no comparison.

Having one of these on a college campus is a huge advantage for students. Cars are known to get their worst mileage in small areas, like cities, campus, etc. This is due to the large amount of stopping, then going, then stopping then going. When a vehicle starts from 0 and accelerates, this is when the most gas is used. Having a car on campus is definitely convenient, but at the same time can be very expensive. Having a vehicle that gets 100 miles to the gallon can be a huge difference maker when it comes to the size of your wallet at the end of the day.

I myself have a 50cc moped which I drive around school. I attend the University Of New Hampshire which has a large campus with so much going on. Kids crossing roads everywhere, cars and scooters and mopeds and dirt bikes all over the place. Things get hectic when driving around campus, and having a 50cc scooter had to of been one of the best decisions I made during my college career. I save anywhere from $30-$60 in gas every week alone! I know, your jealous.

Heres my moped:

I just love 50cc mopeds, and I will never use anything other than one until we change the way we go about transportation. Hopefully sooner than later everything will be powered by natural, more efficient forms of energy.
